Customer Spotlight: Recording Artist - Perris Jones

In this installment of Crowns Spotlights we had a chance to talk to one of the next emerging artists out of the Atlanta area, Perris Jones. He sat down with Crumbs To Crowns to give us more insight on his journey to making his name in the music game.

How long have you been in music? Was this always a passion? or something you grew to love?

I’ve been doing music since I was 18 so nearly 12 years but I just started to be intentional with it in 2022. This was always a passion even before I started recording myself. As a kid I was always into music more than anything besides sports. Growing up and listening to my favorite artists helped me escape reality

What is your favorite part about being a recording artist? What was your greatest fear going into music?

My favorite part is probably the process of putting the song together. I love coming up with new ideas, flows and working on new sounds. My greatest fear was the outside judgement. I knew I’d have some support me but I also knew some wouldn’t be able to grasp me giving up my journalism career. What people don’t know is, it was a decision years in the making not on a whim. I just had to wait for the right timing.

Who are some people that inspired you to do what you do? How did their knowledge/Influence impact your music?

Jay-Z, Drake, J Cole, Outkast, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi and Travis Scott. I bring up those names because they are probably my biggest influences in music. My love for music at some point superseded what I was doing and I knew I had to go all out and stop being afraid of what changes would come or the work I had to put in. But seeing those guys overcome near impossible scenarios to make it in music is what inspired me.

What advice would you give yourself 10 years ago? And Do you have any encouraging words for anyone who might be scared to take that leap of faith?

I don’t have any regrets because I know I’m where I’m supposed to be. Only thing I’d say is to stop listening to people who didn’t appreciate the music back then. I wish I was more confident in my abilities and took it more seriously when I was younger. My advice to others who are thinking about it is to just jump because on the other side of your leap of faith could be the life you’re longing for.

What is your definition of Success? & What is something that you're personally proud of that you've accomplished?

I think you have to find your own definition of success. In my opinion, success comes when you accomplish what you set out to accomplish and not what other people want you to accomplish. Personally, I’m just proud that I took a giant leap of faith and bet it all on myself regardless of the outcome because I know that God won’t let me down. My advice to others who are thinking about it is to just jump because on the other side of your leap of faith could be the life you’re longing for.

How do you want to be remembered? & If you could leave us with a quote of your own, What would it be?

I want to be remembered as someone who truly had faith in God. When I reach the level that I know I’m capable of reaching, thanking God for my success will be the first thing I do because I wouldn’t be here without him. I want to be remembered as a man of God first. A quote that always stuck with me is "When there’s a will, there’s a way."

What does "Crumbs To Crowns" mean to you in your own definition? Favorite Crumbs to Crowns Product(s)?

To me, Crumbs to Crowns isn’t just a rags to riches type of slogan but a mindset of where you come from in a spiritual sense too. Because before you can escape somewhere physically, you have to escape the mental hurdles that come along with it. Crumbs to Crowns to me is symbolic for "I’ve overcome what was sent my way. I’ve reached the top even with the card I was dealt."  My favorite product is the sweat pants!
